The company claims the benefits of their service are that they will “save hundreds of dollars on your storage needs.” Storage Locator boasts a “Quick Quote” system so online users can “submit a single quote request to several storage facilities at once and receive free customized quotes.”

As detailed in the Storage-Locator.com Location’s article, Storage Locator’s claim to quick quotes from several self storage facilities is false. Storage-Locator.com has a few links to a couple of self storage providers listed in their self storage search engine, however, each link transports online customers to only one self storage provider, which is Door to Door Storage.

Storage-Locator.com also promises online consumers the ability to “compare Public Storage, Mini Storage and Self Storage Facilities”. This statement also turns out to be false, as Storage-Locator.com does not compare any two self storage providers. In fact, they exclusively drive online viewers to the Door to Door Storage web page.

In addition, Storage-Locator.com states that they provide services including pick up and delivery, climate controlled storage, mini storage, self storage and storage containers (sometimes known as pods). Self storage and these other necessary services often go hand in hand. Offering them would help self storage prospects get everything arranged for their move, remodel or storage needs.

Taking a deeper look into Storage-Locator.com’s claim to these additional and specialized services will bring you to see that it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. From the Storage-Locator.com home page, there is no hyperlink that is clearly marked as RV storage, mobile storage, wine storage, climate controlled storage, or anything linking to what the company indicated they offer. The two links on the home page are labeled as “Click Here”; one is for consumers to get a free quote and the other is to find local self storage in your area.

Both “Click Here” links bring the online viewer to two variations of a web page with a pull down menu, offering choices between several cities and states. Located under this pull down menu is a “Click Here” link which offers “free quotes and information for your vehicle, RV or boat”.  This link implies that, like most self storage search engines, the user will be given the option to choose their local area and then obtain a list of providers in that radius who offer these specialized self storage services.

That assumption would be incorrect. Clicking the vehicle, RV or boat link does none of those things, which a good niche search engine should do. The link delivers online self storage customers directly to the Public Storage home page.

If you intended to go forward with your search for car storage, RV storage or boat storage, you’d have to begin anew because Storage-Locator.com redirects you to the home page of Public Storage and not the area for choosing a space for automobile, RV or boat parking.

Perhaps that’s because the Public Storage web page also does not have an area dedicated to specialized parking. Online viewers of the Public Storage web page have no way of specifically searching for specialized storage. They literally have to guess where it might be and hopefully it’s near them and convenient.

Online browsers would do better to avoid the entire Storage-Locator.com web page altogether. Several reputable self storage search engines truly do offer quick, easy access to rates and allow users to compare the self storage providers in their local area. Any comprehensive self storage search engine would also make it easy to locate wine storage, RV storage, automobile storage, boat storage and more by offering dedicated links to each service offered.

Storage Locator also claimed on their home page to “make it easy to find and compare… services including pick up and delivery, climate controlled storage, mini storage, self storage and storage containers”. Nowhere in their storage directory do they offer pick up and delivery, climate controlled storage or storage containers.

From the Storage-Locator.com website, self storage customers have no way of searching out a climate controlled unit. Climate controlled units are necessary for storing antique furniture, paintings, photos, electronics and when storing long term. The purpose of a climate controlled storage unit is it to keep moisture and humidity out, while maintaining a constant temperature so items are not affected by climate and humidity changes. It is important for self storage customers to be educated about the benefits of climate controlled storage and also be able to locate one by using a self storage search engine.

Pick up and delivery services are a huge convenience for self storage customers moving across town or remodeling. It is also a necessity for customers relocating or moving long distances. This service usually entails renting a truck, placing items inside and driving it to a new location. More recently, mobile self storage has made the moving and transition process even easier.

Mobile self storage delivers self storage crates to the customer’s driveway or street side and customers load the unit. The mobile storage provider picks up the crate when the customer is ready and stores the crate, or crates, in a climate controlled warehouse. Storage-Locator.com also mentions mini storage on the list of services offered. Mini storage is another name for self storage; the two are one in the same. Storage Locator has most likely included this phrase in their list of services as a way to plug in a keyword often associated with self storage.

The company also lists storage containers in their list of services. Storage containers, sometimes called storage pods or crates, are combined with a pick up and delivery service. The pick up and delivery, combined with the mobile self storage pods are referred to as a whole as Mobile Self Storage. Mobile self storage providers often provide self storage as well as mobile storage.

In addition, Storage-Locator.com overlooks every other type of specialized self storage such as wine storage, records storage, craft storage, food storage, shoe storage and others.

Wine storage is perhaps the newest concept in specialized self storage. Because wine needs a specific, undisturbed environment, self storage units are ideal for wine storage. Self storage units that are truly designed for wine storage address the special need wine demands in order to preserve it.

Wine storage requires that a certain amount of ullage, or space of air in the bottle itself. There is little a self storage unit can to do contribute to the proper amount of ullage, however, temperature is the most important factor in wine storage. The perfect temperature is where wine storage units offered through a self storage provider can save your wine collection. Wine storage is typically kept at 50 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

The areas in which they do offer resources turns out to be an exclusive link to Door to Door Storage or Public Storage. That is hardly the comprehensive list a self storage search engine should provide.
