Public Storage also has a toll free number that rings to their call center. I called this number and asked a general question, “Which states in the U.S. do you offer storage?” My experience was a little confusing and frustrating. After three or four sessions of automated options, I finally reached a customer service representative. She did not greet me when she answered the phone and I could hear her finishing a joke with her coworkers. When she did greet me, I asked her to give me a list of the states in which they offer self storage. She transferred me to the front desk.

The administrator at the front desk said I’d have to call customer service for that information, and then gave me the number I had just called. Again, I called the customer service number; after all, chances are I’d speak to a different representative than I had the first time.

Upon my second call to customer service, I asked the same question. After holding for a quick minute, the representative came back to the line and told me I’d have to look online. I asked again if she had a list of states and she said that she did not have access to that information.

While looking online is easy if you know the exact location you want, it’s difficult to browse locations because you must enter a city or ZIP code and state.
