Move, Inc. Specialties

Just by looking at the Move, Inc. website it’s hard to tell what their specialty might be as a business. One report showed that the site offered real estate services that accounted for 72% of its revenue and moving related services contributed to 28%. One product you may not know that was developed and trademarked by Move, Inc. is the 360 degree Home Tour. I am not a realtor or looking for a home but I have seen this service advertised and it seems pretty nifty. If I understand the concept, you can view potential home interiors on your computer. Sometimes called “virtual tours,” these inside peeks at homes for sale are like an added agent working 24/7 for you. People log onto the internet all hours of the day, weekends and holidays and that is probably a lot more than any real estate person works (even though it doesn’t seem like that to them). By providing a potential customer with inside and outside views of the home, condo or townhouse at their convenience, the customer can see right away if something peaks their interest. The home tours and virtual tours saves the customer time and the real estate agent time by weeding out sites that would not work at all for the potential customer. Not everything can be viewed online and sometimes the mystery of what you can’t see can drive some business and customers to that home location.

What doesn’t Move, Inc. specialize in? The Move, Inc. Site Map alone speaks volumes.

Overall, the website Move, Inc. is a little overwhelming and seems to be giving too much information. Move, Inc. should overhaul their site to make it less crowded. Every page that pops up has advertisements, click here, click there, and it’s an ADD lovers dream web site. You literally could be busy for hours or even days trying to navigate the complete Move, Inc. site. I don’t know how often the Move, Inc. website is updated but to manage such a large web site you would have to have a number of people just to keep it up and running. Updating the site alone could be a full time job, not to mention the other sites that Move, Inc. operates.

Finding a home in the traditional sense means either doing it yourself or contacting a real estate agent. Doing it yourself, means driving around and looking through the newspaper trying to find the right home to fit all of your needs. You will also need some legal knowledge and experience dealing with home buying and selling. Getting a real estate agent will save some time but it comes with a price, typically a flat fee or percentage once you purchase your new home. Initially, a realtor will want to meet you and talk with you about your home needs and your finances. A realtor will look for homes that match your needs and are within a price range that you have specified. It is important to also meet you’re your bank to make sure the large amount of paperwork is in the works. Sometimes people like specific neighborhoods or want a certain school district or perhaps something close to other family or a job. A realtor must be well area of the city or town that they are representing. While most of this information is available on the Internet, a realtor must be able to field questions when meeting with clients in person. Then the compromises start; let’s say you want a 4 bedroom, 3bath ranch home with pool, hardwood floors, 2 car garage and well landscaped in the Oaks Neighborhood for less than $650,000. What items are you willing to do without? Will you settle for some carpeted areas and 2 baths or will you stick by your guns. Sometimes it is feasible to get everything you “want” but you must be open to the idea that you might have to do some of those upgrades and personalization yourself after the home is purchased. Plus, don’t forget about time frame, with people selling and buying many are on a tight time line for when they have to move out to when they want to move in to the new home. The overlap of time can be very expensive for both the buyer and the seller. Overlaps can cause the need for self storage, temporary housing and just plain hassle on every side. No one wants to live out of a box for an extended amount of time.

Move, Inc. specialty is well….everything that has to do with home buying, home selling, finding an apartment, finding a manufactured home, corporate housing, professional realtor information, financing, senior health and wellness, insurance, moving and storage, home improvement, gardening, senior housing and more and more and more.
